Sharon Maynard graduated in 1980 with a bachelor’s degree in music education from MSU-Bozeman. She taught general music, choir and band for six years in local private schools, and private piano and guitar since 1993.
Sharon specializes in teaching beginning to intermediate piano and guitar students from 6 to 86. Her goal is to not only teach her students to perform on their instruments, but to teach them to be music lovers and appreciators for the rest of their lives. Music theory and history are emphasized in lessons. A computer music lab is available for students to work on note recognition, rhythmic accuracy and beginning composition exercises. In addition, students have the opportunity to perform 3-4 times a year at nursing homes and extended care centers, music festivals and studio recitals.
In addition to studio teaching, Sharon is involved in music at her church, regularly playing piano and guitar for services and directing the choir.
In 2009 she started to revive the long-absent music program at Helena Christian School. She teaches high school choir and K-8 general music there.
